In 2022, Espace Libre, a landscape and urban planning studio, unveiled a seamlessly integrated Skate Park in Stella Plage, Cucq, as part of a broader urban and landscaped development. Spanning 3,000m², the skate park harmoniously blends into the evolving urban fabric, offering a dynamic space for recreational activities.
Central Location: Place de l’Étoile and Beyond
Strategic Positioning:
Situated between Place de l’Étoile and the seafront, the Skate Park serves as a pivotal element within the larger Stella Plage development. The comprehensive project encompasses the redesign of Place de l’Etoile, the establishment of ecological corridors along the Cours des Champs Elysées, and a housing program linking Place de l’Etoile and the seafront. With connections to adjacent streets, the seafront, dunes, and parking, the skate park is strategically positioned at the intersection of these diverse programs.
Continuity in Design: Imaginary Sea and Dunes
Park-Like Concept:
Espace Libre envisioned the skate park as an extension of peripheral amenities, incorporating elements like a mini climbing wall and a basketball hoop. The design, inspired by the imaginary sea and dunes, manifests in the suppleness of concrete curves, creating a cohesive and park-like atmosphere.
Inclusive Recreational Space: Open and Accessible
Versatile Facility:
Designed to accommodate various gliding enthusiasts, including scooters, skateboards, bicycles, and rollerblades, the public facility fosters an open and inclusive environment. While it operates with specified opening hours, the skate park’s design ensures freedom of movement for all users.
Maturation of Vision: A Year Later
Living Landscape:
Functioning not just as an architectural endeavor but also as a landscape project, the Cucq Skate Park has fully realized its purpose a year after completion. The thriving plant life within the park attests to the success of the landscape design, while enthusiasts of exhilarating experiences have wholeheartedly embraced and made the track their own.
