However, it is his cherished recollections of Diwali that hold a special place in his heart.
Celebrating Diwali: A Source of Inspiration
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, serves as a beacon of joy and prosperity, evoking memories of luminous diyas, vibrant fireworks, and cherished moments spent with family. When tasked by The Glenlivet to design a bespoke dress for the Diwali Gala, Mohapatra drew upon his childhood memories of fireworks illuminating the night sky. The resulting gown is a testament to his craftsmanship and creativity, meticulously handcrafted with over 500 crystals, 6,000 cup sequins, and 1,000 Japanese bugle beads. Symbolizing the transition from dusk to night, the gown’s fitted bodice in luxurious black velvet gives way to an ethereal silk skirt, adorned with intricate beadwork reminiscent of exploding fireworks.

In conceptualizing the dress, Mohapatra sought to intertwine the essence of Diwali with the modern ethos embodied by model and entrepreneur Pritika Swarup, who would debut the gown at the gala.
