‘HelloMonday’ in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, Korea, is a collaborative office space brand established by Star Properties Korea (SPK), a Hong Kong-based real estate company. Rooted in the belief that workspaces should seamlessly integrate into daily life, HelloMonday offers a diverse range of office environments, each with its own distinct concept. Among these, Coner 19, Coner 25, and Coner 50 stand out for their innovative design approaches, catering to varied needs and preferences.
Capturing Regional Essence: The Design Vision
Bananafish was tasked with designing the interior of Coner 25, located amidst the industrial remnants of Seongsu-dong. The client’s vision was to infuse the space with the essence of the region, celebrating its heritage while embracing modernity. Despite spatial constraints on the 9th floor, we aimed to create a reception hall and lounge area that reflected the local character. To maximize functionality, we integrated a large bar table as a central element, serving as a focal point for the reception desk, café, and lounge.
Sustainable Design: Transformative Furniture
Drawing inspiration from the area’s industrial past, we utilized eco-friendly fiber panels to craft iconic furniture pieces for the lounge. The double-layer finish, with outer rectangular panels arranged diagonally, created a dynamic visual effect symbolizing the area’s evolving facade. In contrast, the kitchen and studio spaces on the 10th floor adopted a minimalist aesthetic, featuring concrete-inspired ceramic finishes and subdued tones. This design approach ensured a cohesive yet distinct ambiance across different floors.
Versatile Spaces: Flexibility in Design
On the 11th floor, we envisioned a rooftop garden and a multipurpose glasshouse, adaptable to various events and activities. Utilizing recycled fiber panels, we designed modular furniture units that could be rearranged to accommodate different functions, from lectures to small gatherings. The relocatable service tables and storage closets added further flexibility, enhancing the floor’s versatility. Additionally, wall shelves made of metal frames and color-glass shelves created a captivating interplay of light and shadow, enriching the space with dynamic visual elements.
