Dorae Knot Café, named after one of the fundamental traditional knots in Korea, symbolizes connection and new beginnings. Directed by Mr. Ryan Kim, a seasoned hospitality expert, this café embodies his serene yet dynamic personality through meticulous design by Studio GIMGEOSIL.
Conceptualization and Design
The café’s interior is characterized by linear furniture crafted from beech wood, exuding a warm and inviting ambiance. To ensure durability and cleanliness, the furniture is coated with transparent white oil and features rounded edges. A striking black sofa adds a touch of sophistication, complementing the natural materials and linear design.
Material Selection
Verde Antigua marble adorns the walls and bar tables, chosen for its elegant green hue and irregular patterns, aligning with the café’s calm yet vibrant image. To create a seamless appearance, the marble slabs are meticulously installed with minimal joint gaps and custom-colored grout. Stainless steel finishes in the kitchen area provide a balanced contrast to the marble, while the flooring features a clean matte finish for a serene atmosphere.
Architectural Details
The café’s ceiling, adorned with exposed concrete, is enhanced by wooden beams meticulously plastered to mimic concrete texture. Indirect lighting along the beams adds depth to the space, while warm 4,000K natural white light complements the material palette, creating a cozy environment. The careful attention to detail extends to the doorknobs, crafted from marble and stainless steel, offering guests a tactile experience.
Conclusion
DORAE KNOT Café seamlessly merges tradition with modernity, creating a space that reflects Mr. Ryan Kim’s vision and character. Through thoughtful design choices and meticulous craftsmanship, Studio GIMGEOSIL has transformed this café into a haven where guests can savor coffee amidst an atmosphere of tranquility and elegance.
